​Valuable guidelines for experienced practitioners and beginners alike

 
Welcome! We're glad you are here!​

Yoga is a great place to begin or to extend  your health and well being.

Trying something new can be exciting, but also overwhelming. Knowing what to expect can help to put your mind at ease.
Please know that you are welcome to join a class regardless of your experience, flexibility, or exercise history. 

These basic guidelines are to help enhance your practice and the practice of those around you.  ​
  • Yoga is for every BODY. There is no amount of experience or flexibility required to participate. Be kind and loving to yourself by accepting where you are.  Rest when needed.  ​
  • Please keep cell phones outside of the classroom to minimize distraction for you and others.  If necessary to have it with you, please double check that it is placed on silent (not vibrate-very important) mode.
  • Remove shoes and socks before entering the practice area; yoga is done barefoot. Place your shoes in the designated area. Wear comfortable and easy to move in clothes that you would wear to any exercise class.
  • Enter the practice room quietly, in stillness. Your practice starts when you enter the room. If you need to communicate with others before class, please do so in a quiet manner.
  • It is recommended that you do not eat at least three hours before practice.  Drink plenty of water after you practice.
  • Please only bring bottled water into the practice area—no other food or beverages.  
  • Mention any pre-existing injury or special condition to the teacher at the beginning of class so that the teacher can help to customize some of the practice for you to keep you safe.  
  • Plan to arrive early to class-at least 5 and up to 15 minutes before the class start time.  Out of respect for all students and the teacher, the classroom door will be closed for admission just before class begins to avoid interruption.
  • Abandon the competitive mind-set.  It is not simply a “work out”; this is a system to calm the mind and accelerate our personal transformation. Benefits of this practice include a stronger, more flexible body, and improved general health.
  • Using your own mat is recommended. We do have mats available for use that you are welcome to borrow. In an effort to keep them clean, please clean them at the end of practice with provided materials.
  • Please wear no strong perfumes or essential oils to class, as some people may be allergic.
  • Please do not enter or leave the practice area when the class is in meditation, silence, or total relaxation.  
  • Stay for the entire class. If you need to leave early, advise the teacher beforehand and exit before total relaxation.​​

It is not about twisting yourself into some sort of pretzel shape or looking like the cover of many magazines. If you can breathe (and I suspect you are if you are reading this), you can do yoga.  The structure of my class offers multiple levels to make for a pleasurable and satisfying experience for all."
